National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) (also referred in The united states as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)) is an annual international health campaign organized by Worlds major breast cancer charities & Foundations in every October to increase awareness of the illness and to raise money for research in to its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers knowledge and support to those affected by breast cancer.
1) History :
NBCAM is started in America founded in 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division of Imperial Chemical Industries. The aim of the NBCAM from the beginning has been to promote awareness about mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.
In the early 1993 Evelyn Lauder, Senior Vice President of the Estée Lauder Companies founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation(BCRF) and established the pink ribbon as its symbol, though this was not the first time the ribbon was used to symbolize breast cancer. In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation used pink ribbons for participants in New York City race for breast cancer survivors.
2) Ways to support :
There are lots of different ways to support breast cancer such as attending the national Walk for life, attending the Ride hard to breath to simple program (RH2BE) and donating money and mammorgrams. There's also lots of ways to support breast cancer at home such as fasting, asking people to donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation, staying awake for a extended amount of time, Every day walking or Running, and holding breast cancer meetings around your neighborhood.
3) Activities and events :
--> Breast Cancer 2 Day:
There are various two-day-long walks to raise money for breast cancer research institutes. Avon sponsors a 39 mile (60 km) walk. A walk in Atlanta offers varying lengths of up to 30 miles. Canada's huge "Weekend to Finish Breast Cancer" features a 60 km walk.

Estee Lauder Companies has arranged to have over a dozen world-famous landmarks coloured in pink light to draw attention to the importance of mammography screening for early cure of breast cancer as well as the research for locating ways to cure and prevent breast cancer. During the mid of October month, the National Football League promotes breast cancer awareness by incorporating pink on its sites, graphics, and adverts. Players also show support by wearing pink gloves, cleats, captains patches, and other apparel in the coursework of games.

This sixty mile fundraising walk, which is spread across three days, raises funds for breast cancer research. This walk, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure occurs in several cities in the United States. The Breast Cancer 3-Day was historically in the past sponsored & managed by Avon.

In October 1983 the Race for the Cure was held for the first time in Dallas, Texas, where 800 people participated. According to the organizers, by 2002 the number of participants reached 1.3 million and the event was held in over 100 US cities. The event is also being organized in several other parts of the World.
